The sessions are open to everyone, even if you've never picked up a paint brush, and is also an ideal opportunity to meet new friends.
The fee is £6.20/£4.10 (concession) per session, or further reductions are available using our Lifestyle Scheme.

A poem by a member of the Art Group
Wednesdays’ Art
Moray Leisure Centre, Elgin has facilities supreme
Offering multifarious activities – for individual or team
Fitness is the driver, body beautiful being the goal,
Healthy exercise machines abound for body and for soul.
Warmed waters of the swimming pool suit young and old alike –
A grandson can be doing-the-crawl when Grandpa’s on his bike.
All this paddling and this peddling saps the energy in bursts
So a café is provided to stem hunger and slake thirsts.
There’s a door, right off the café, with its sign for “Party Room”
And little private functions can take place there, I presume.
It’s not a very big room – you could swing a largish cat –
But on Wednesdays this balloon filled space is where our art is at.
Yes, three-and-a-half fun filled hours, that includes a spell for lunch,
That I spend each week applying paints ‘mongst a nigh nefarious bunch
Of artist ladies, let’s call them that, we comprise the painting class
Being slotted in allotted space with scarcely room to pass
By others’ easels while each frets on shadow depth and tone,
The only male, I brave this bevy of feminine pheromone.
I say I go there every week, that’s true, but not for all
Jean and Morag are part-timers fortnightly being their call.
They attend a private co-op on Wednesdays in between,
I hear they paint, through rumours bound – soirees a la shebeen!
We’re not a free-range outfit, a mentor takes the group
Elaine R Smith is well in charge and makes us loop the loop.
Her artistic powers are legendary she paints big things like stills,
(The whisky kind), and fishing boats and off-shore rigs and drills.
She likes us to experiment – no style or muse being barred
Though Isobel gets reminders if she goes too avant-garde!
For Angela and me, we soldier on, work quietly as doves
But Yoko, she is centre stage adorned with plastic gloves.
I think that’s all, oh no, there are two new girls on the scene
‘Maur’ and ‘Nor’ we call them as their names both end in ‘een’
We stop at twelve for luncheon, well a scone with cup-of-tea,
Amid the chatter of the café and the gossip that flows free.
Yes, that’s how Wednesdays’ Art classes regularly run
I never want to miss one for they’re lots and lots of fun!
